I went back to work on September 8th which ended our family fun time, but Daddy and Aiden have been able to have some good quality time!! We did manage to go one one final family get away right before I had to go back though. We went to Palm springs with Mammy, GA and G and we all had a great time. The guys went golfing and I laid on my butt on the couch in the air conditioning. 115 degrees is no place for a pregnant woman - let me tell ya!! We also celebrated Ga's birthday at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants out there. It was a great way to wrap up the summer.
Aiden has been quiet the little entertainer lately and we can't believe it's almost two years that he has been in our lives, or running our lives I should say! :) He is turning into the funniest, sweetest, smartest little stinkers I know. He is talking up a storm and about 1/2 of it actually makes sense. He says all of his ABCs and can recognize every letter. One of his favorite shows is Word World and Drew and I love it. The whole show is letters that spell out the word it is - for example, the dog is the actual letters DOG and the pig is the actual letters PIG and he lives in a barn that is made out of the letters BARN - you get the idea. They solve all their problems by building words and the whole thing is phonics based. You won't find that Your Baby Can Read crap in this house!! Anyway, we were sitting down to dinner the other night and we had ordered a pizza. We gave Aiden his pizza and he said, "Thank you Mama, P I Z Z A - pizza." Drew and I looked at each other in shock and amazement. My FAVORITE thing he is saying right now is when things get stuck. He will look right at you and tell you he needs help. " Mama, Queen TUCK!" Queen is what he calls Lightning McQueen and he puts so much emphasis on the word TUCK. It actually makes you laugh out loud. He has been sleeping in his big boy bed now for several weeks and is doing better than we could have ever imagined! Last night we put him to bed and a couple hours later Drew noticed that his arm was hanging over the bed through the guard rail. There is plenty of room and Drew knew that he wasn't hurting himself and didn't want to wake him. About 20 minutes later (i am fast asleep) and Drew hears Aiden fussing in his room so he goes in to check on him. Aiden just looks up at him and says, "I TUCK" Drew helped him with his arm, rolled him over and Aiden went right back to sleep. Drew told me the story today and both of us were cracking up!! We are going to have to get one of those on video!!
Aiden in his Big Boy Bed that Daddy just put together
He is quite obsessed with Cars and Mickey Mouse at the moment. He LOVES Disneyland and my mom and I took him just recently and we finally had his first successful encounter with Mickey a couple weekends ago. Before, Aiden would be SO excited to see Mickey but then we would get close and he would freak out and want nothing to do with him. This time he was all smiles and even cried when we took him away.
Aiden is becoming quite a fun little guy. He is FULL of energy and life and so much more than we could have ever hoped or dreamed for. And here we are about to be blessed with another little guy. In the midst of this crazy and messed up world it is so nice to be able to appreciate and cherish the finer things which we learn isn't material things, but the blessings that we never asked for or least expected. God is good- all the time!!
