Aiden's Appointments

We started with the cardiologist appointment and Aiden was having a fussy day - which is not like him once he is out of the house. Anyway, he had his echo cardiogram and the murmur is defiantly still there and there has been no change with the PDA so surgery is still possible, but we are hoping it's not probable. We did talk to his cardiologist about vaccinations and he stressed that it's important that we protect his heart while it continues to heal. He was very pleased that Aiden's heart is strong and healthy right now and he gave us warning signs to look at if congestive heart failure sets in and wants to see Aiden back in 3 months and at that point we will make a decision about what needs to be done. Either the valve has started to repair itself or we make the decision to go in and repair the whole in his valve. The doctor was very encouraged that Aiden had some much improved lung function so we left that appointment very encouraged.

Next was the pediatrician... I was very much looking forward to the appointment and dreading it all at the same time. Aiden has been on and off the last couple of weeks and we were worried that he was colic. So, we went to Dr K and talked through all of Aiden's behavior and symptoms and he adjusted Aiden's acid reflex medication dosage and discussed his vaccinations. After a long conversation and questions asked and answered we had Aiden receive the vaccinations that would allow his heart to be protected while it tries to heal itself and also protects him in the event that he might in fact need to have surgery AND were mercury free!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!

Our little man weighs in at 11lbs 6oz and is a whopping 24 1/4 inches long!!! Today he has been on his new dosage and had been a totally different kid. We started the meds at his 4am feeding and when he woke up later this morning he actually cooed and smiled. He wasn't screaming or fussing and he ate in 20 minutes instead of the hour long wrestling matches that we have been experiencing. Today he has been so fun and smiley and this is even after his shot yesterday. He has also sat with us and been calm - before he was constantly moving and couldn't keep still so this is huge for us! Anyway, we feel like we are turning a corner here.
We'll keep you posted :)

I hope you got a good Santa picture. I can't believe how big he has gotten already.
You asked for opinions about the shots. I say go for it. Children have had shots for years with no consequences so I am wondering if there are other factors.
See you soon.

That is VERY good news! I'll be praying that the murmur heals itself up on it's own. See you guys soon!
