We went into the hospital yesterday for our non stress test and were praying that they would just keep us and get this show on the road but no such luck. We got there at about 8:30 and had all the bags in the car in case they said those 6 special words "We are going to admit you" but all they said at the end of the day is - things look good enough to be able to send you guys home. Which in any other situation would be a huge blessing but in this one.... Drew and I were wanting to hear something else.
My blood pressure was all over the place and really high and then would drop really low. I was pretty dehydrated from what they said but handed me a glass of water and juice and were convinced that would do the trick. I did have 4 contractions in the 2 1/2 hours we were there and I didn't feel a thing. There was one moment where they got pretty panicky and Drew and I were convinced that we would be admitted.... I was in the middle of a contraction and the fetal monitor went nuts and both nurses came rushing in and were contemplating pulling our Dr out of the emergency c-section that he was in, but I guess what happened was that the baby had grabbed the umbilical cord and was riding out the 6 minute contraction . They made me lay completely still for 5 minutes - do you know how hard that is for a woman with a FULL bladder that has a numb hip from laying on one side for too long??????????? The nurses told us that the fact that I had contractions at all was a very good sign that when I induced that it would take quick and easy which is why we don't understand why we didn't just stay and have the baby.
So.......Our doctor came back in and told us that were would more than likely make it to Tuesday and to go home and call on Monday morning to make another non stress test for Monday......sigh. Drew and I looked at each other and couldn't really even find words to say. People keep asking me if I'm excited or if it's hit me that we are having a baby yet and I can honestly say that it's been a struggle. There are times when I wonder if this baby is ever really going to come out. For those of you who didn't hear they did move the inducing date up to Tuesday so that is the perspective end date, but part of me is waiting for them to delay me once again.
So that should get you all up to speed. It's 5:45 in the morning and I have been awake for about 2 hours now - I am actually looking forward to those late night feedings - At least I have a shot at 3 or 4 hours of consecutive sleep. :)

There are some in there that, ah, we could delete, but thought you'd get a kick out of that! :>)
and...
October 14 is the 287th day of the year (288th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 78 days remaining until the end of the year.
So...you'd know how long before Christmas you would have to stock up on Santa gifts. :>)
Then there is the nursery rhyme...
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child must work for a living,
But the child that's born on the Sabbath day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.
So...at least if baby AJC decides to make an appearance today...we know he/she will be a looker (well, we know that anyway!)...and if tomorrow, your day of inducement, he/she will be graceful. How's that?
I'm thinking about you two...just a few more hours and baby AJC will be in your arms!!!
Love and hugs,
Aunt Sally
XO
