IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!

Aiden Jonathan Cox joined us this afternoon at 4:48 PST weighing 8lb 7oz and 20 1/2 inches long with a crop of carrot top hair.

It was quite the day. We arrived this morning at 6:45 am to check in and Kim had her first vile of Pitocin dripping at 7:30. By 4 o'clock, on our 4th vial of Pitocin, nothing had changed. Dilated 1 1/2 cm and 80% effaced, with contractions coming every 2 minutes or so. Kim wasn't feeling any of the contractions though, so no progress was being made. During one of the nurse's check-in's, the heart rate of the baby dropped form 130's to 70's. They cleared the room, had Kim turn over 3 times, called the Dr in and in a matter of minutes, called a code Green and whisked her of to emergency c-section. Because she hadn't dilated to 4 cm yet, she didn't have an epidural or any kind of pain meds in her, so they told her that they were going to knock her out and have the baby out in 5 min. In the amount of time it took to wheel her to the OR, the baby's heart rate came back, so they slowed down, gave her an epidural, and 15 minutes later, Aiden was born.

It is now 10:50pm and we have a feeding in 10 minutes. Aiden has slept for the past 3 hours peacefully. Kim is a total stud and recovering well. Because of the c-section, we are in the hospital until Saturday.
